Welcome to Chefs of New York! We are a family-owned and operated restaurant with two locations serving the Central Valley. We are located at 2307 Oakdale Road in Modesto, CA, and our Downtown location is at 1325 J Street in Modesto. We specialize in our authentic Italian style dishes, with our Nona’s homemade sauces and New York-style pizzas, using only the finest ingredients possible! We take much pride in providing you with a truly authentic Italian experience when you visit any of our locations. We now also offer an amazing breakfast at our downtown location open 7 days a week from 6 am to 2 pm. There you can try our delicious house-made biscuits and gravy, three egg omelets with country potatoes or hash browns, fresh fruit parfaits, Edith bagel breakfast sandwiches, and Huevos Rancheros with our fantastic house-made salsa, just to name a few! You must try our newly adopted Ebelskivers with house-made strawberry jam, a Danish-style pancake that is delicate and just the right amount of sweetness! We also provide a full-service coffee bar with specialty coffee drinks made with Peerless Coffee out of Oakland Ca, who have been roasting this flavorful coffee since 1924.

From the very beginning, Vinny wanted to bring his childhood experiences from New York straight into the hearts and souls of his neighbors here in Modesto. So with that, he bought Chefs of New York and began cooking and introducing recipes from his Grandmother and Mother who came from Carini, Sicily. His amazing love of food and family helped develop CONY into a local favorite restaurant! Over the years we expanded and grew into a new phase with Chefs of New York and found a partnership with our new friend and business partner Clay Rosson. Clay, a local businessman, is also the owner and proprietor of City Water Filter, which services the Central Valley and Bay area. His amazing ingenuity for clean and safe water has brought another wonderful element to Chefs of New York. Clay, who regularly frequented Chefs of New York, saw the ability to assist and provide a helping hand to the restaurant he and his family love so much! Installed in the restaurant is a state-of-the-art reverse osmosis water filtration system that filters all of the restaurant’s water for cooking our delicious homemade sauces and fresh made dough etc. (www.citywaterfilter.com) Clay invested in Chefs of New York to help improve on what was already wonderful. His ability to help bring Chefs onto the next level has become key in bringing to the community our new Chefs of New York Breakfast, at the downtown location. His love of great food and breakfast helped make this new vision possible.

Vinny, being the wonderful and personable man that he is, made a point to reach out to restaurant and business owners throughout the Central Valley. He quickly became friends with former restaurant owner Carmen Sabatino. The two of them didn’t just have good food in common, but also shared love for their Italian Heritage. After the passing of Carmen, Vinny attended his funeral where hundreds of people came to pay their respects. There Vinny was approached by customers who frequented Carmen’s restaurant weekly and spoke to him about how much Sabatino’s meant to them. Vinny decided after a conversation with his daughter and Clay, that he would like to continue Carmen’s legacy and bring some of the wonderful breakfast menu items back that people loved so much! With a few new twists to the menu, we continue to bring Carmen’s original favorites back to the community! Along with those beloved menu items came three of Sabatino’s chefs, each with 30 years of experience.

We had a vision where people could come and enjoy the family-style atmosphere, along with delicious wholesome cooking! And that we did!
